Description

The Gossamer World Critixia- known as Kardatha to the inhabitants, was formerly a world in a perilous time, but one of grand adventure. An Earth-like world developed technologically to the edge of the age of Steam, it was a time that nations that thought they were the only seat of civilization were just expanding their influence enough to find out that there are others, and those others are just as- if not more- powerful. But even with these discoveries, the world was quite large, and there were many areas to explore and exploit- if just to do it before their little known neighbors. The denizens had to adjust quickly, as advances in technology and magic forced cultural changes, even as adaptations to the new peoples and ideas that they encountered had to be assimilated. The world was brimming with excitement and possibilities.

Then the first inspirati set foot in the world, and brought with them The Bleed.

The Bleed is the effect of the intermingling of this Gossamer World with another, and began to affect the local physical laws. Seemingly at random times, crops would die, or grow out of control, metals stressed and sheared, and things just .. failed. But magic, that was the worst. Sometimes it was deadened, and at other times it was quickened beyond imagining. It always brought with it dire consequences. And is it was, that world began to fall into Blight, as the cumulative effect of these manifestations caused everything to fall into disrepair.

And the worst part of it is that the Guild has determined what is causing the Bleed, and not only ignores it- but uses it. Manifestations of the conflicts tend to occur more around inspirati as they go about their adventures- apparently being from another Gossamer World makes them locus for the energy. The Guild has taught its inspirati use the Bleed to drive their shows and make them more interesting to the audience. It also allows them to survive dangerous situations more readily, which helps to keep this phenomena quiet.

Now, with no Gossamer Lord to protect the world, there is the danger that it will fail completely- becoming a dead world, forgotten in all of the Grand Stair. And the Empire will clap as the world burns.

Critixia Domain Table

Technology Level: Steam-driven
Security: Restricted Access [2 Points]
Type: Personal Domain [1 point]
Control: Control of Contents [1 point]
Magic Level: Commonplace
Influence-Eidolon: Weak/Strong
Influence-Umbra: Average
Influence-Wrighting: Blocked*
Special: Wrighting is only when used with the thoughtmitter - an organic device fitted in the sub-arachnoid mater centrally to the cerebral cortex that broadcasts thoughts emotions, sensations, and experiences to a special receiver.
Eidolon becomes weak or strong at seemingly random times, and puts stresses on the local rules- not just for Eidolon use, but its intermingling with the more static Umbra affects everything from technology, to magic, to the native structure of things. Crops die, metal stresses more easily, and magic just fails.
Magic use requires the pull of energy- not full Umbra usage, but it is necessary for it to function- either through the draw of energy, which is limited by Endurance, or the use of Hellpowder- processed demon bones. For most practitioners, this is far more powerful.
