His skill at arms is almost unmatched within the house; he could have chosen to vie for Lord Borel's position when the late master-at-arms was killed, but chose not to. He is entitled to a place at the courts in the heart of the House's Ways, but is content with his Barony in the Black Zone. He champions the cause of House Heldt, but does so in a way that allows no stain to come to his honour. Many think it is because of an involvement with Tatjana Heldt- but the more astute put this aside. Personally, he is of unimpeachable honour, conveys an easy grace, and is slow to anger, and quick to smile, though there is steel hidden within the velvet glove with which he treats everyone, as many have come to know at their detriment. His words are heeded at much higher a level than his title would normally indicate- indeed, he has the ear of many in key places, a fact that those that would oppose him have not missed. He moves through shadows both literal and metaphorical, and his influence is seen in places that are surprising. Many have tried to divine his true purpose, and move him from the rock on which he stands within the house. All have failed- most have died. When asked about Baron Haaibre Hendrake, a prominent member of his house would say nothing of him, other than the fact that he was, "A deadly mystery." |
