Tatjana HeldtIndex | Time Under Chaos | Non-Player Characters | Non-Canonical NPCs | Tatjana Heldt  A beautiful woman with a sharp mind can always be assured of the latter being taken for granted, so Baroness Heldt is very accustomed to being underestimated, and has used this reflex reaction to the benefit of her House. Born the third child of legendary strategist Gehan Heldt, Tatjana was never meant to inherit leadership of the house- that task was to fall to her brother. But after he was killed in a skirmish due command failures, her older stepped aside in her favour. It is rumoured that this series of events had more to do with planning than providence, but no substantiated evidence of anything other than her earnest love for her family exists. Gehan Heldt was held in high regard not only because of his keen mind and sense of tactics, but also the fact that his plans didn’t stray from the sensibilities of the House Hendrake military commanders. “Many times he told my brother that it was best to tell your commanders what they want to hear and be heard, rather than tell the truth and be ignored,” was an anecdote Tatjana used at her father’s funeral after he was killed in a pointless skirmish. “Too many paid the price of staid planners, when better tactics could preserve the best of the warriors rather than throw them away on honourable, but suicidal charges.” Of course, this attitude did not win her many friends in House Hendrake. Though the fortunes of House Heldt did not wane under Tatjana Heldt, this had more to do with her political acumen than her particular popularity. Minor gains were made, but nothing that would bring the House from under the stigma of its leader until the Patternfall war. As with all of Hendrake, Heldt took major casualties. But Tatjana was able to win the ear of Belissa Minobee in the wake of the death of her husband and son. Tatjana now holds the ear of prominent members in House Hendrake, even with the departure of the Duchess of Hendrake. It remains to be seen, however, if she can hold her faction together in the wake of Belissa’s sudden departure. Tatjana Heldt is portrayed by Veronica Lake |
