DescriptionThe Tlahuixcalpantecuhtlians (or Calpexians to those who have to deal directly with them - insects to others) are a race that brings shivers to most when they talk of them. It is not because of their practices, though sacrifice is quite extreme- and adding cannibalism to that makes a recipe for unpleasantness. It is also not because of their forms- there are many in Chaos who have appearances that are much more unseemly. Nor is it because of their government or customs, or anything else that is obvious to the viewer. It is because of their alienness. They have fully grasped the concept of change to an extent that few do, as shown by their original forms, and how far they have evolved from them. Originally a shadow of humanoid insects, over the years, the Calpexians have utilized biotechnology to become closer and closer to the forms of their ancestors- pure insects. Their technology is devoted to giving them not only the seeming of insects, but also the abilities conferred through implant modules that they install as readily as most use clothing and adornments. If one wants a mandibular look, then a ready removal of the lower jaw and a replacement is in order. Adding chitin, resin extractors, wings, or any other insectoid capabilities that one would desire are just as readily attached or removed at will. With abilities available in such a wholesale manner, the ruler of the realm is determined by genetic predisposition rather than ability. After all, if one can go buy a better body, what then does the body matter? If one can buy memory implants to make one more skilled, then what do skills matter? Because of the fact that all Calpexians are potentially warriors, and prospects for advancement are few and far between, they are readily found in the armies of Chaos- usually in non-integrated units, as their mindsets don’t lead to ready integration of their forces. |
