Interview with MorganIndex | Time Under Chaos | Player Characters | Morgan | Interview with Morgan Question: I find it both amusing and somewhat ironic that, in addition to your cousin Larissa, you, too, have experience with shadows so vast as to contain multitudes of stars, and the interstellar void. And yet, you are very different than your full cousin, almost as night is to the day. Answer: “I agree, Larissa is very amusing.” Question: I would not make the mistake of knowledge of your hedonistic tendencies allow me to underestimate you; I have heard of your duels. And it is that deadliness and skill that makes me wonder what you think you are capable of. If you were to study or learn something new, to the point of becoming a master at all, to what would you pour your boundless energies to the point of mastery? Answer: “That level of dedication sounds very, very boring. But if I had to devote myself to that kind of mastery, I think I'd ask Petra to get me enrolled in The Jade…” Question: What do you make of Mandor's police state, as contrasted with the tales of your mother's homeland from the older generation? Answer: <Shrug> “It's not what I was expecting, but it's the way things are. I'm not sure I would have liked being ordered around by Old Man Oberon any better, and I suspect that a lot of those who are complaining about Mandor never dealt with the old king personally. It's easy to romanticize the past, especially if you didn't have to live in it.” Question: You appear to be more than a bit of a scoundrel. Add that to your former life as a space pirate, and your frankly rakish good looks, and you cut quite the romantic figure. One who has cut quite the path through the women of Amber. Has anyone caught more than your passing interest? Answer: “Well, some of them I've passed once, then come back and passed again, and sometimes a few years later I've decided to pass them yet again. But there's no one who has spent any time in the passing lane with me.” Question: The political environment in Amber is terribly complex. If you were to have one assassination enacted, who would it be and why? Answer: ”Assassination is for minor annoyances that I don't want to deal with myself. If someone is a real problem, I'll deal with them personally. If they're an enemy, I prefer to keep them alive to humiliate.” Question: What do you look for in a girlfriend? Answer: “In no particular order: experience, humor, spirit, athleticism, a nice bum, and no shapeshifting without warning.” Question: How does your self-destructive behavior help heal the loss of your mother? Answer: [Puffs on a cigar and blows smoke in the questioner's face] “So many interesting points to discuss here. First of all, I'd argue about my behavior being "self-destructive." I'm an immortal superhuman, remember? I'm doing nothing that I can't heal from - which wouldn't be the case should I decide to hunt down and kill Caine in vengeance for Mom's death. Besides, Mom was a big girl. She taught me about being responsible for my own actions, and the consequences. She made her choice, and she took the consequences. I'm making my own choices, and so far the consequences have been absolutely delightful. The girls on board the Ramblin' Queen for instance... As for the "loss" of Mom. Remember, she left me as a kid, telling me she was going off to war, but would be back soon. It was six decades before I heard anything else. That was plenty of time to figure out that she wasn't coming back, and get over it. And, hey, everybody. The Amber of Oberon ain't coming back, either. So get over that, just like I have.” |
