Sebastian of Variath still appears young and handsome, despite his century of life as King, a testimony to the long life of the people of Variath, which they claim has something to do with their water. Sebastian has had the water bottled and sold to naive neighbors, who find out to their chagrin that the "magic waters" don't work outside of Variath.

Despite being arrogant and vain of his good looks, Sebastian is known to be brilliant, though erratic, and quite politically gifted. On the other hand, he is an absolute monarch who enjoys his absolute rule, and often demands concessions from his subjects for no reason other than that he wants them.

His people are used to this sort of thing, but the nobles feel they ought to be better respected, and those who are out of the king's graces have been grumbling much louder lately.

Sebastian is quite ruthless enough to silence any rumbling he hears, but more often than not is too busy enjoying himself to hear the rumor of trouble on the wind.

He surrounds himself with beautiful and deadly women and the occasional beautiful and deadly man, but his political aspirations seem to be negliglent. He simply wishes to continue to live the lifestyle to which he has grown accustomed.
