Delluth's Flat in the Artists' QuarterIndex | Time Under Chaos | Player Characters | Delluth | Delluth's Flat The flat is on the third floor (second floor to Europeans); the other half of the floor has lately been occupied by an opera singer, and in the floor below resides an elderly retired actress living off her savings. Works of art in various styles adorn most of the walls; most of it is modern, and done by acquaintances or friends of his. Prominently displayed in the sitting room is a portrait of his daughter Jerusha, painted by Claudio Barimen. The sitting room is not furnished in any identifiable style, but holds an assortment of comfortable chairs, ottomans, occasional tables, a glass-fronted liquor cabinet, and a dresser with a set of yellow-patterned china and a collection of small wind instruments (flutes and pan-pipes of various materials and configurations, a tin police whistle, and a couple of harmonicas). Leaning against the dresser is a tall walking stick of some dark wood, footed and capped with steel. This is the only room that the vast majority of people see (unless they're nosy). Delluth's bedroom contains a large bedstead with a featherbed, a wardrobe, a crowded bookshelf, a knee-high locked chest, and a bedside table. Zhenechka's bedroom holds a soft, approximately twin-sized mattress placed in the exact center of the floor. The study is solidly locked against the cleaning lady who does biweekly battle against dust, dog hair, and crumbs. When opened, it is cluttered with books, papers, bottles and jars, but not irretrievably so; there is a desk, a work bench, shelves, and a closed, padlocked cabinet. Pinned to the wall above the desk is a map. One of the shelves contains a series of fifteen smallish black leather-bound notebooks, numbered on their spines in white paint. The water closet is self-explanatory. The "Kitchen" holds a small stove, a sink, an ice box, and a few cabinets that mostly hold supplies for tea and coffee (Delluth usually eats out, so the rudimentary nature of the kitchen doesn't bother him). |
