Admiral Conor StratheIndex | Time Under Chaos | Non-Player Characters | Non-Canonical NPCs | Admiral Conor Strathe
Charming, to the last. You don't know how difficult it was, signing the order to terminate your life. -Grand Moff Tarkin, Star Wars: A New Hope As a young man, Conor Strathe was one of the most feared and respected captains of the fleet of the Golden Circle kingdom Variath. There were whispers that he was a privateer, a sadist and a libertine. Other whispers made him the close friend of Prince Caine of Amber. If either are true, Strathe himself isn't telling. More recently, he moved from the ocean to the courts of Variath and surrounding kingdoms, acting occasionally as Ambassador and at other times as a spy, assassin or political mover and shaker within the kingdom itself. He was one of few Ambassadors to move easily to and from Amber itself, perhaps due to connections with the royal family and perhaps simply because of his position with the crown of Variath. When young Islain arrived in Variath, he saw her potential immediately. His mind was never clouded, as were others, by her beauty and youth. He saw a dangerous weapon, and told himself that weapon could be made to fit his hand, and would not be allowed to turn against him. Despite their difference in age, they were intimately involved, but their relationship was almost entirely a partnership based on mutual political needs. The Admiral, as she always called Strathe, taught Islain much. At this point in time, Conor Strathe is over two hundred years old, ancient even by the standards of the long-lived people of Variath. He attributes his remarkable lifespan to 'clean living' and occasional summers in Amber, but there are rumors of much more sinister causes for his apparent immortality. While not the court-appointed Representative of Variath, Strathe has been known to dip his feet into the political waters between Amber and the Golden Circle, even now that his protege Islain is known as a rebel. |
