BoneyardIndex | Time Under Chaos | Settings | Amber City | The Boneyard BONEYARD (aka the East Gate)Ward Type: Gate Boneyard is the eastern gate overlooking the winding stairs down to the ocean. It has never really recovered from Bleys and Corwin’s assault on Amber. Damage from that attack can still be found here and there, even though the defenses have been significantly shored up. The East Gate is still utilized for entrance into the city on occasion. Usually it is Elders who can pass through the usually bureaucratic red-tape, but a staff of civic servants has been maintained for visitors skirting the harbor. A significant smuggling trade has begun here, under the Chaosians’ noses. If someone wants to get something into the city without notice, the Boneyard has its ways of accommodating them. The true name of the East Gate comes from the numerous mausoleums and monuments scattered throughout the Ward. Prince Eric had the bones of the thousands of Amberites and Shadow Dwellers that died on the Stair collected and interred here in honor of their sacrifice and bravery. It is said that the souls of the dead are restless and walk the walls and stairs at night. Indeed, more than one guard has seen Bleys’ ghost while on watch… or so they say. Life is slowly returning to the Boneyard, with new lodgings and shops opening up to service the sizable garrison. Already the renovations are underway and soon the large council halls will reopen to the public. |
