Rusalka is a cheerleader, a gymnast, a Liberal Studies major and a member of one of the (if not the) most prestigious all-female Houses in the University - the Princess Florimel Society Sisters. In person, she is generally quite sweet, in a ditzy, easily distracted way. She is the kind of girl who is equally at home swigging beers and screaming at the athletic team as she is in high heels and perfect makeup at a ritzy get-together. On the other hand, in every such event one might get the impression that either Rusalka is not very intelligent - or her mind is somewhere else altogether. In actuality, it is the latter - she is not a stupid girl (although she rarely pays attention and is not too perceptive) she simply has her mind on a hundred things at once and usually the ones most high in her thoughts are old stories and legends, new moves for sports or combat, or any rumors that might be circulating at the time. Rusalka is a sponge for such rumors, as well as for compliments, friends, fun, and a particularly fine blue Begman wine. She was born in Amber itself, to a fairly prominent noble family, House Cardovan, who have been the chief producers of fine porcelain and certain brandies and whiskeys in Amber for hundreds of years. Her great-great-great-grandfather, Thaddeus Cardovan, was knighted and created Earl of Cardovan for unmentioned services to the Crown, after which the title became hereditary. Rusalka is typical for the House in the sense of her demeanor - as Cardovan is fairly famous around Amber for its lovely, brain-dead daughters, but atypical in her coloring, since her mother was a traveller from very far away, a Black Zone shadow some say. Rusalka's father is Demetri, Earl Cardovan, her mother's name is Lady Valeria, and she has a brother and a sister, Theodore and Fantina, both older than she. She was sent to Faiella University in the grand tradition of her family, and is expected to do well - which her family takes to mean graduate and find a husband in the same few years. Rusalka herself, if she were to admit it, is more interested in other things - adventure, excitement and mystery being top of the list. |
