There she worked for a short time as a governess and even opened a fairly successful finishing school, which allowed her to meet and interact with Amberite nobles. Not long after that she fell madly in love with Demetri Cardovan and spent three years convincing him he was in love with her as well. Even Demetri's memory of his beloved first wife was no match for the beautiful, exotic and highly practiced Valeria, and soon they were married. A year later Rusalka was born. Valeria Cardovan is an easy-going, delightful woman with an uncanny knack for etiquette and protocols from all over the universe, as well as for languages. She seems to get along with almost anyone, and is quite popular in the courts. On the other hand, she is flighty, mischievous and has been known to play games simply to keep herself amused, much to the aggravation of her straight-laced husband.
