HouseCardovan House Cardovan was created four hundred and fifty years ago when Thaddeus Cardovan, a distiller and merchant of the area was knighted and created Earl of Cardovan for unmentioned services to the Crown. Since then, the Cardovans used their money and shipping connections to build the sprawling Cardovan manor and grounds in the Flag Hill District. Cardovan manor has always been known for its intriguingly austere architecture and for the quality of its orchards, but after Julius Cardovan began to create and sell fine porcelain, part of the outside was remodeled using Cardovan glassware and nearly translucent rose-colored porcelain, after which it was nicknamed the Glass House. The main distilleries and glass shops are located in the heart of Amber City and Cardovan owns many warehouses and a shipyard as well. Since their money and influence have only increased over the years due to fine, savvy finance, House Cardovan's Earldom remains secure, although there are those in the older noble families, especially the poorer ones, who see them as jumped-up "new money." Currently Cardovan has ten members: Earl Demetri; his second wife Lady Valeria; their son and two daughters: Theodore, Fantina, and Rusalka; his mother Georgette?; his brothers Radu? and Aleksin?; their daughters (respectively) Elisse? and Katriel?. House Cardovan is nearly as famous for its beautiful braindead daughters as for its fine brandies, whiskeys and porcelains, since that too seems to be a tradition, perhaps even an intentional one on the part of the parents. Generally speaking, the members of the House are dark haired and olive-skinned, but Lady Valeria came from a far shadow in the Black Zone, and she and her daughter Rusalka have hair the color of cherry blossoms or cotton candy and slightly lighter skin. |
