Background

Dagyr was born last from a large litter. He struggled for his mother's milk but soon found himself kicked out of the nest by his stronger siblings. Being still so young he was destined to die alone. A kindly Mousekin called Genty found Dagyr and gave him spring water and wild nuts and berries. Both were outcasts from their kin; she being barren and he the runt. Dagyr stayed close to Genty as she continued to mother him. They travelled thru the country side both shunning the community that is a rodents life blood.

As Dagyr grew stronger; Genty grew weaker; for she was actually quite old for a mousekin. Thru the brief years they had together, Dagyr learned the much gentler and subtler ways of the mousekin; he knew he would never fit in with the vicious Ratkin of his birth. When Genty's time had come; he laid her to rest beneath a great Walnut tree. These wilds had been their home; had fed them and shelter them. Dagyr knew he could not stay alone and could not return to the nest of his birth.

So Dagyr set off for the land of men to see what kind of family nest he could make for himself. With hope in his well loved heart and the cautious timidity of his mother's ways; he set out on the first grand adventure of his young life.
