An Incident At Clearwater: Aerin And DerronIndex | HomePage | GameLogs | ClearwaterGameLogs | An Incident at Clearwater Aerin and Derron As Aerin and Ranulf were leaving the dining hall, they almost bumped into Derron Thorne who was coming in hastily. Derron saw them and said tersely, "Good. Ranulf, you need to come with myself and Ser Tomas. We need to find your father." He waited to see if the lad would say anything. If not, he would ask servants if they knew the lord's whereabouts. Aerin frowned, glanced from Derron to Ranulf, then back. "I was taking Ranulf to the training grounds," she told the Steward. "Is it really important?" she asked Derron. Derron looked down at the young woman and said, "I'm afraid so, lass. Now, Ranulf, do you know where your father is?" "He went out riding, early," said Ranulf in his high-pitched voice with its odd, gruff little crack. "Along by the shore of the Lake - he said he wanted to check the latest landslide and see if the road to Marshend was open. But he should be back soon." Aerin looked up at Derron, her frown deepening. His look and tone were worrying. And suddenly she wished she'd not mentioned someone dying to Ranulf. "I can go with Shade and find him," she offered. "We'll find him fast, and send him back to the keep." Though she wanted to tear off through the keep and onto the hunt, she held back and waited for Derron's answer. Derron frowned then said, "No lass. You should stay here. I'll send a rider." He straightedned up and looked at Aerin, then spoke formally. "I would ask you a favor, milady. Until his father has returned, please stay with young Ranulf, and keep others from speaking with him. Only myself or Ser Tomas is to take him from your side. Can you do that for me?" Aerin almost scowled. She wanted to =do= something. A chance for her and Shade to not be seen as something other than in the way. "Yes, Steward," she answered. Then looked down to Ranulf. "You get to start training after all. Come on," she said. "Let's go to the armory and I'll show you each of the different weapons," she announced, her voice having a determinedly pleasant air to it. Derron's eyebrows furrowed. Aerin could be a bit devious, but he did not have time to go into it. "Thank you, Milady. I'll be in my office if you have need of me." He then left for the stables to find a rider to track down His Lordship.
