Childe Ingrey

After departing, Ingrey quickly made preparations for, and then boarded a carriage to take him to the Castle. He looked out at the late night, now almost early morning buildings as the carriage made its way up toward the Castle. In the darkness, it seemed to Ingrey to brood and stand above him like a gloomy, five-sided giant.

Ingrey waited for the carriage to come to a stop and waited for the door to be opened. He disembarked in the yard and looked around for a moment.

His inward trace of slight amusement was reflected by only the slightest of deviations from a neutral and straightforward look on his face as he strode from the carriage toward the entrance toward the main keep. His gait was for all of the world as if he belonged here, at a center of a node of political power.

Ingrey looked for an alert guard, greeter, or even servant to intercept him. He bowed before the servant.

"I am, as you doubtless know, Ingrey Wererathe, Minister-Counselor to the Court of the Kingdom of Amber from the Empire of the Courts of Chaos. Take me to the Regent of Amber, Morgan." Ingrey said succinctly. "Immediately."

The guard attempted a remonstrance. "The Regent is in private audience. Do you have a message that I might deliver?"

Ingrey shook his head, firmly.

"Alas, it would be unfortunate for you and Amber in general if I am not permitted to speak with the Regent personally and at once. Powers above you or I might take a refusal of allowing me to meet him as an abdication of his responsibility and station."

"I would be most pleased to be conducted to him and this private audience, now." Ingrey added, in dulcet tones.

The guard looked at him worriedly.

"I will take you there, Sir," he said after the briefest of pauses.

He led him through the corridors of the castle - but before they reached the throne room itself, they came across a small group of people whom Ingrey recognised - even if it was slightly surprising to see them gathered together: Claudio Barimen, Lord Chadwick, Goran, the security deputy on the Queen and a Castle Amber guard. As he approached he heard:

"I'm afraid I'm supposed to go and see the Regent," Claudio replied with a trace of regret (and a glance at the guard), "and probably should not keep him waiting. Best of luck with your endeavors."

Chadwick gave Claudio a slightly regretful smile. "Thank you. After everything's settled we'll have to compare experiences."

"I would like that," replied Claudio.

Chadwick then gave his attention to Goran. "Let's," he said as he began to move.

"Good day, Mr. Barimen," Goran nodded politely in parting and followed Chadwick to his room.

To discover Ingrey and his escort rapidly approaching.
