Sam Samanosuke "Sam" Reynard
APPEARANCE: The first thing one might notice is this; Sam is not Nihonese, Nipponese, or Japanese, which make up most of the population of the Kyoto District. Amongst the people of his old neighborhood, he stands out in nearly every way a person can. He is taller than most, a fact that is generally consistent, often by half a head, and not uncommonly by a head and shoulders or more. Sam is more heavily built, with a broad shouldered frame whose well exercised physique is that of either a fighting man or a habitual swimmer. His hair is a rich, dark brown, kept generally tidy and short, not the black of his childhood tormentors, and his eyes are hued to match, though they can look darker or paler depending on the light. He does favor the local styles in his mode of dress; high collars, soft-soled shoes, and double-breasted tunics; though he is no stranger to the simplicity of jeans, or the sharpness of a University uniform. He sometimes affects a very neatly trimmed moustache and goatee, perhaps in an effort to harden features that make appear either too young or too ‘pretty’. Sam is a handsome young man, with the kind of unkempt allure that many try to affect but few ever acquire artificially. More than one brawl might have been avoided in his life, if Sam had been less easy on certain women’s eyes. MAJOR/MINOR: Drawing and Fine Art/History GENERAL DESCRIPTION: (In Sam's own words) I’m not terribly concerned about what other people think of me. I am not at the University to make friends, not to say that I won’t make them, what I mean is that I wasn’t looking for new people to have tea and crumpets with. I have no Fraternity alumni to satisfy by joining some homo-erotic social club to complete a so-called ‘family legacy’. Those guys can paddle each other to their little heart’s content. If anyone is going to paddle me, it’ll be a Sorority Girl, thank you very much. I’m Captain of the Kendo Team, and I’ll where the pin proudly, but unlike some, I will not be adding ‘Captain of the Kendo Team’ to the end of my name every time I meet someone. I think it’ll be clear that from the bottom of my loving resoled shoes to the top of my self-shorn head that I am my own man. Not a wealthy man, but at least an independent one.
