- The War of Bitter Ashes begins when House Minobee and several minor Houses claim sovereign authority over the shadows surrounding Ygg, including Amethyst (which they considered to be holy ground). After two years of war between Amber and Chaos, internal strife, and rising dissent in the Golden Circle, King Random called upon an old Blood pact with the Elders of Weirmoken, previously established under King Eric. Weir forces under the command of Prince Rook (son of Eric) captured and held Amethyst, using it to strike at Chaosian forces. With losses mounting and facing a possible civil war, House Minobee sued for peace in 11SA. King Random signed Amethyst over to Weirmoken, thus creating a perfect buffer state on the border between Order and Chaos. Elder Fray succeeds to throne of Wiermoken after Prince Rook abandons his duties.
