ColesTenQuestionsCole's Ten Questions 1) Where does your character get their laundry done? Describe it and the people they might encounter there. "Actually, since my most recent valet threw a screaming fit and stormed out, I've just been buying more clothes. But it's eating into my beer money, and the smell from the closet is starting to permeate the rest of the room. I suppose I'll have to put up flyers for a new valet again." 2) Does your character sleep well? If the character has dreams, what kind of dreams are they? "I am a world-class sleeper, and I don't snore, no matter what you might have heard. I don't remember most of my dreams, except that one where I'm standing on a pyramid in sun-god robes, with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing bagels at me." 3) Your character gets into a discussion about death and dying. How would your character describe the perfect death? "Delayed perpetually." 4) Describe your character's personal bedroom or suite. Where is it located? Describe the contents of the room. What is the style of furniture? What items are of importance and why? "I have a room in the dorms, just like a regular student. Mom thought it was important that I try to blend in. But it is the largest room in my hall. And it opens on to the room next door, which is also mine. And I don't have a roommate. "The style of furniture is just whatever was here when I moved in, except for my favorite overstuffed leather couch that we brought from home, and my drawing table. Oh, and we threw out the beds and put in a king-sized bed, because otherwise my feet dangle off the end, and I hate that. I like a bed with lots of room. It's friendlier that way. "There are lots of my sketches up on the walls: landscapes, pretty girls, puppies, that sort of thing, stuff that makes me happy. I keep meaning to finish those portraits of Mom and Deric but something else always comes up. "There's a pile of musical instruments off in one corner, and I can play most of them with some degree of expertise. I especially like the guitar. My harmonica I keep in my pocket, because you never know. Other than that there are always toys scattered around: roller skates, practice weapons, sports equipment, various windup clockwork gizmos. Exotic gadgets brought back from shadow. "Don't open the closet." 5) How would your character describe their perfect mate/spouse? "Gorgeous, but with a good sense of humor. Oh, and forgiving, that would be important." 6) Describe your character's life ambition. Is this their personal goal or is it one forced upon them by their peers/parents? "The mantra that Mom impressed upon me was 'Graduate, don't procreate.' So that's pretty much it. Someday I'd like to have a dog." 7) Which Elder Amberite does your character respect and look up to? "I really admire Prince Bleys. He has style, and talent, and he knows how to have a good time. And I wish I'd met Dierdre, who sounds amazing: a gorgeous woman who knows how to handle a battleaxe. Oh, and there's Gerard: that man has a laugh you can hear from three blocks away, and you've gotta respect that. The rest of the Family seems a bunch of stiffs." Which Elder Amberite does your character despise? Why? "Despise? Why would I despise any of them? I hear Brand was a murderous nut who wanted to recreate the universe to his own liking, but it sounds like he was just crazy, you know? No sane person would do what he did. So that's not his fault, even if he had to be stopped." 8) Your character finally has a break from classes. Describe their perfect day off. Where would they go? Would they want others around or be alone? "I think I'd go sailing. I have a little boat down at the harbor. I could sail to the foot of Kolvir, then hike up to the very top, because I love the view from up there. Did you know there are stairs at the top? Three steps that go up into the air, then just stop. Crazy. "I wouldn't mind being alone, or with friends, either one is good. But everything is better with a pretty girl." 9) University offers numerous opportunities to interact with different races and species. How well does your character fit into new societies? Do they have any prejudices? If so, why? "I love meeting new people, especially freaks from weirdo places. It's fascinating to find out how they live, what they eat, what they do for fun." 10) What would provoke your character into committing a greater evil, such as murder? "What? What kind of question is that? I'd never do such a thing. Sure, I'd fight to protect someone, maybe kill if there was no other way, but to just murder someone, that's insane. "I will tell you what makes me mad, though. Jerks that make fun of how someone else laughs. There's little enough delight in the world, and when someone's enjoying it and then it's spoiled, jeez, I just see red. I don't always make good choices when that happens." |
