StregaNonas

Index

Located near the theatre district, Strega Nona's is a mainstay of those with large appetites and lean purses -- which includes many of the inhabitants of Hangover Square. A narrow, stuccoed building with an arched doorway, the faded signboard hanging over the door shows a large black cauldron overflowing with noodles. Inside, two rows of tables line the walls, usually clustered with people eating, drinking, and chatting; the atmosphere is warm, steamy, and garlic-laden.

The restaurant serves a selection of pasta dishes, but the specialty of the house is the "bottomless" pasta bowl, with the customer's choice of pesto, marinara, or alfredo sauce. The pasta is served in a distinctive stoneware bowl, which will be refilled by a waiter when it gets empty until the customer tells them to stop.
