He is known as a talented combatant, frequently entering tournaments and doing well, though he never seems to win as much as one might expect given his ability. Despite his prowess, he has somehow managed to avoid serving in the army, instead doing some time in the navy, mostly on mercantile missions to other shadows in the golden circle, which he enjoys spending time in. He lives in a villa which belongs to Eric, overlooking the sea. He always jumps at the chance to get into a poker game, especially of the kind held by the elder amberites, though his cash reserves get emptied for the effort. He doesn't seem to take things too seriously. In the great tournament held recently in Amber, he took second in several categories, but did not win any. He carries a fine long-bladed rapier with a blue hilt. He sometimes uses a buckler, and sometimes fights Florentine. His colors are dark blue with maroon trim. He often forgoes armor even in situations where combat is likely, but when he does wear it, he favors leather over heavier armors. Typically does not wait for maneuvering and likes to tackle the enemy head on, and is often good enough to get away with it. Has been known to have some ability to counter other powers.
