TheCallingSB: Kieran/Dagny, The CallingThat brought me up short. "Uh, actually, I don't know. Hold on." I pulled out my Trump deck and shuffled out Kieran's card. Next best thing to a cell phone, really. I concentrated and tried to make contact... The contact is difficult, as if Kieran were suddenly very far away, or was having difficulties similar to that experienced by his parents. Dulcinea hovers nearby, watching as Dagny attempts to make contact. [Kieran will ]then move back aways from the Sphinx and out of sight of the Pattern, closer to the spot he picked for his Trump to this place. He turns so that anyone looking at him, will have a view of the sea and sky. "Dagny;" he says taking the call. "Something come up? Although Kieran's location is not evident to Dagny, Dagny's presence in the Castle is evident, as well as the young blond woman at her shoulder. "Uh, yeah." She pauses for a moment. "You okay? I had a problem getting through to you." Kieran chuckles. "I'm fine;" he says. "There's most likely a fair bit of static or interference here given the nature of the place my grandmother and I are in. What's up?" Dagny's eyes widen a little bit with curiosity, but lets the moment pass. "I just had an audience with Random and Vialle, and was given permission to raise an army to fight the Omphalos." She grins. "What d'you say, Kieran? Feel like crushing a few hundred of those bastards?" "Only a few hundred?" he says with a smile. "Did you want to do that before or after lunch?" He chuckles. "Seriously though, do you mean to fight them on our turf or their's? And did my name get mentioned to the King?" "Few hundred each. To start with. Conservative estimate," Dagny deadpans. She reaches up and brushes a lock of hair out of her face with her right hand; the Royal Seal of Amber now decorates her ring finger. "And he suggested you first, actually." Kieran nods his head. "Ah, well, it's a start;" he says while shrugging his shoulders. Then he grins. Kieran's gaze notes and then tracks the ring. "Really? What did he say? I would like to see him so I can walk the Pattern." "Nothing aside from suggesting you for this mission. And yes, walking the Pattern is probably a good idea before embarking on inter-Shadow warfare. I'm a little surprised you didn't opt for it immediately, before heading off to...wherever you are. Do you want to come through now and request permission?" "No;" Kieran says. "I think my grandmother might have been arranging something to that end just a few moments ago, my time. And if that's the case, I'm pretty much where I need to be." "That's good then." Dagny seems to consider Kieran thoughtfully for a moment and says, "Well, I don't want to keep you, so I'll let you go. Give me a call when you're ready to join us." "Will do;" Kieran says. "Dagny;" he says after a moment. "When it comes time for me to walk the Pattern, I would be honored if you and Dulcinea were there to witness it. I'll call after I talk to the King and we're set to begin." With that, if Dagny is willing to close the call, so is Kieran. "I can't speak for Dulcinea, but I'll be there. Talk to you later." With that, she'll end the Trump call. Backlinks |
